The Ken Kragen Memorial Foundation was created to honor Ken, who produced Hands Across America and “We Are the World,” in addition to working with countless artists to better humanity. Ken Kragen was a true humanitarian who strived to make the world a better place. Since the onset of his legendary music career, Ken has worked with WhyHunger as a trusted partner on the frontlines of the fight against hunger and poverty. He was deeply involved with WhyHunger for decades through his work with USA for Africa and his friendship with musician Harry Chapin, who co-founded WhyHunger in 1975. Ken was a beloved artist manager and producer in the entertainment industry, managing Harry Chapin's career, as well as many other artists for years.
In the wake of Ken's passing, his family created The Ken Kragen Memorial Foundation to continue his unfinished work to curb the effects of climate change and food insecurity. As his final gift of philanthropy, several posthumous ventures will carry his legacy forward in order to help various charities, including WhyHunger. The mission of The Ken Kragen Memorial Foundation is to nourish global communities experiencing food insecurity due to the effects of climate breakdown and expand sustainable food production worldwide. Climate change, which is directly correlated to viral outbreaks including COVID-19, forced migration, and increased poverty, perpetuates the increased need for hunger solutions.
